Gov. Bill Lee, Tennessee Department of Environmental and Conservation Commissioner David Salyers and Tennessee Department of General Services Commissioner Christi W. Branscom will lead the groundbreaking of the new Lodge at Paris Lansing at Paris Landing State Park on Friday, November 15. Members of the Tennessee General Assembly and local government are expected to attend. A program will feature remarks by the governor. A tour of a model room will be part of the event.
Benton County had a sizable decrease in unemployment for the month of April. Unemployment in Benton County decreased 0.8 percent from March with a 3.5 percent unemployment rate and 6,690 employed residents in April compared to 240 unemployed within the county.
From February to March, unemployment in Benton County rose 0.3 percent to 4.3 percent. The February unemployment rate in Benton County was 4.0 percent before a slight increase in March brought the unemployment rate up to a total of 4.3 percent.
Today marks Opening Day for many local high school baseball and softball teams including Camden, Hollow Rock-Bruceton, and Big Sandy. The Camden Lady Lions open the 2019 season today at 5 against McKenzie in the Camden City Park. Meanwhile, the Camden Baseball team makes its 2019 debut today in the Tennessee River Classic at 4:30 against Lenoir City from the Camden City Park. The Lions will take part all week in the Tennessee River Classic, which features many baseball teams from across the state that’ll be playing in Camden and Waverly.
