Country Showdown Information for Contest on Wednesday September 27th

The 2017 WFWL/WRJB/Catfish 99.7 “Country Showdown” Contest will be held September 27th at 6:30PM at the Benton County Fair. If you think you have talent and would like to enter our local contest with a chance to win $100,000 and a recording contract at the National Finals, you should enter now. The winner here will advance on to a Regional Final which means you will be one step closer to winning the Big Prize. You can enter online at www.thecountryshowdown.com. TWRA OFFERS FREE HUNTER EDUCATION CLASSES AT CHS

TWRA is offering a free Hunter Education Class in March for anyone interested in obtaining a hunting license in Tennessee. The class is free to attend, but participants must be at least 9 years old. The class will be taught at Camden Central High School on March 13-14 and 16-17, from 6-9pm each session. In order to earn a class certificate of completion, participants must attend all four sessions and compete lecture, live fire, and the final exam. LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL SIGN-UPS FEB.18

For families with children interested in playing baseball, Big Sandy Little League will hold a sign-up day on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10:30am-12:30pm in the Big Sandy School cafeteria. Boys and girls ages 4-12 are eligible to participate in the league. To confirm age eligibility, please ring a copy of each child’s birth certificate if the league does not already have one on file. UNITED WAY “GOOD NEIGHBOR RADIO AUCTION

The 2016 United Way “Good Neighbor Radio Auction” on 95.9 WRJB ended on Friday October 21 with a final total of $67,000. This exceeded last year’s auction by about $4,000. The Radio Auction is a 3-week event to raise much needed funds for 18 non-profit agencies in Benton County. Those agencies are: Wee Care Day Care Center, Benton County 4-H, Boy Scouts of America-West Tennessee Area Council, Ministerial Alliance of Benton County, Benton County Toys for Tots, Tn Rehabilitation Center, Benton County Program, Bi Sandy Senior Citizen Center,Benton County Track and Field, Carey Counseling Center-Camden Group Home, Benton County Rescue Squad, Benton County Senior Center, Big Sandy VFD, Chalk Level/Divider VFD, Women’s Resource & Rape Assistance Program, Eva/Rushings Creek VFD, FYI Clinic, Holladay/McIllwain VFD.
