BIG SANDY CITY RECORDER RECEIVES CERTIFICATE

BIG SANDY CITY RECORDER DEBBIE WRIGHT RECEIVED HER CERTIFICATE AS A CERTIFIED MUNICIPAL FINANCE OFFICER AT A GRADUATION HELD AT WAR MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM IN NASHVILLE ON FEB. 22, 2013. THE CMFO IS A CERTIFICATION PROGRAM OFFERED BY MTAS. IT IS AN 11-MONTH COURSE PROGRAM TO GAIN IN DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF MUNICIPAL ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE.

THE MUNICIPAL FINANCE OFFICER CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION ACT OF 2007 AS PASSED BY THE TENNESSEE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, REQUIRES EACH MUNICIPALITY TO HAVE IN ITS EMPLOY A CERTIFIED OFFICER BY A SPECIFIED DATE. THE TOWN OF BIG SANDY HAS EMPLOYED MRS. WRIGHT FOR 29 YEARS AS CITY RECORDER. HER CMFO CERTIFICATION PUTS THE TOWN IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE COMPTROLLER’S OFFICE. GRADUATES ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE 24 HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION EACH YEAR.

ALSO RECEIVING CERTIFICATES WERE BRANDY SEATON AND ANGIE HOLLAND FROM THE CITY OF CAMDEN.
