Two Community Prayer Vigils to remember the life of Sonny Melton were held in Big Sandy on Monday afternoon and evening. Melton was one of the victims of the Sunday Night Mass Shooting in Las Vegas, and he graduated from Big Sandy High School. Melton was a nurse at Henry County Medical Center in Paris.

There were several speakers at both vigils on Monday who talked about their remembrances of Sonny Melton and what a caring and loving person he was to everyone he came in contact with.

Pastor Daryl Lewis of First Baptist Church in Big Sandy gave these remarks at the Monday afternoon Vigil.

Among those speaking at the Vigil held last night was Big Sandy Mayor Ron Lane.
The tragedy in Las Vegas which claimed at least 58 lives and over 500 injured remains under investigation by numerous law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
