A day after politicians called for removal of the bust of Confederate Lt. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest from the state Capitol, some Democratic leaders say the state should also change the name of a state park named in Forrest’s honor.
“Why would we celebrate anything that produced evil?” state Rep. Johnny Shaw, a Democrat from Bolivar, said.
“It is a celebration of evil,” he said. “The name of the park, the statue and the whole nine yards.”
