A big crowd estimated between 4-500 enjoyed the performance of country music great T. Graham Brown on Thursday night at the Big Sandy Spring Festival. Graham and his four piece band performed all of his hit songs, many of them written by him, and talked about his career and personal struggles in life. His show was especially refreshing in that there was no profanity, vulgarity or glorifying of alcohol, sex and drugs. Graham stayed around for almost an hour to sign autographs, pose for pictures and visit with fans.
The festival continues Friday and Saturday. Friday night is Gospel Music night with several groups and individuals scheduled to perform beginning at 5:30. D.J. Landon will provide music for listening and dancing from 8:30-10:30.
Saturdays schedule begins with Car Show registration at 8am. The line-up for the parade will begin at 9:30 at the school. Parade starts at 10am. The parade will pause at the gazebo for a special program by the Big Sandy American Legion Post 228 to honor our fallen veterans. The brief ceremony will take place at the flagpole in the city park. Car show judging begins at 12 noon.
Live stage music with bands, groups and individuals will begin at noon at the park followed by the grand fireworks show at approximately 9:30. There will be transit rides all day to transport folks from the downtown area to the city park. Bingo, games and plenty of good food will be available all day.
